It's week 49 of our Kansas sesquicentennial video series, and as Kansas completes its 150th birthday year, we've come full-circle back to Kansas Territory and Kansas artist John Steuart Curry. Curry, hailed as one of the three great Regionalist painters of the 20th century, painted "Tragic Prelude", the infamous Kansas Statehouse mural featuring John Brown and the clash of forces in Bleeding Kansas.

Social Media Week!!!!

Is there anything more important to an author than self[promotion? Okay, other than the actual writing. And editing. You know…THAT.

But the reality of being a writer in the 21st Century means you MUST be actively promoting yourself online, and that means SOCIAL MEDIA. This week, we're talking about our faves and sharing our perspectives!

It's national Native American Heritage Month, so for week 48 of our Kansas sesquicentennial video series we're featuring our rare, 3-volume set of History of the Indian Tribes of North America by Thomas McKenney & James Hall. This tremendous 19th-century collection of lithographs was really one of the first and best records of what Native Americans looked like, what their costumes were like, what they brought with them to Washington to negotiate the treaties.
