Librarians from across the state are invited to help celebrate two decades of library collaboration at this year's GOLD/GALILEO Users Group Conference on Friday, July 31, 2009.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beginning of Georgia's interlibrary lending and resource sharing network, GOLD, and the first of its users annual conferences. GOLD's eventual partnership with the statewide virtual library, GALILEO, created the foundation for one of the country's premier resource sharing collaborations and a new name for its signature event.

What to Read 26: Brent Hartinger's Novels

I had a phone interview with Mr. Hartinger about two of his novels, "Geography Club" and "Order of the Poison Oak". Hartinger had some interesting things to say but only after the phone call ended and I tried to upload the video file did I realize the dang camera was accidentally turned off. I was too humiliated to try and re-schedule another interview.

"Geography Club"
Russell Middlebrook is a high school sophomore hiding his homosexuality. He ends up finding out about some other gay students and they form the most boring HS club they can think of, the Geography Club. That way the kids can meet together as gay kids without anyone getting to know. Conflict arises to make things interesting.

Order of the Poison Oak
Russell and his two best friends take jobs as summer camp counselors. The first group of kids are burn survivors and Russell has to adjust to a new job, take charge of 15 different 10-year-olds, and finds out how messy and awkward love affairs can be.

This week Anali talks about RefWorks, a bibliographic citation manager which allows you to create a personal database of the references you use for your research. Refworks allows you to import and organize citations from research databases, the libraries catalog and Google Scholar all in one place.

Refworks also works with Write-N-Cite to help you include your citations as you are writing papers in Microsoft Word.

For more information please visit the ASU Libraries Refworks info page for tutorials or attend a live workshop http://lib.asu.edu/help/refworks

I wrote this song for my oldest son when he was a baby. It's one of my most requested songs at babytime, now.

I wrote this song when I first became a children's librarian in 1994, and have used it ever since. It's fun to say hello different ways!
